Dyscalculia screening
Private Dyscalculia Screening
Price £275 (Age 7 to 14)
A comprehensive evaluation of numeracy skills designed to screen for dyscalculia and inform targeted support strategies that enhance learning.
This dyscalculia screener is administered face-to-face over approximately 90 minutes and evaluates numeracy skills using a range of standardised assessments.
Dyscalculia Screening Process
Step 1: Before the screening
A background questionnaire will be completed to gather developmental and educational history, with a focus on any difficulties related to mathematics.
Step 2: In-person dyscalculia screener (90 mins)
The screening assesses the following areas:
Non-verbal reasoning: Ability to identify patterns, understand spatial relationships, and solve problems.
Auditory verbal memory: Capacity to recall spoken numerical information, such as number sequences or arithmetic facts.
Working memory: Holding and manipulating numerical data mentally, such as steps in a calculation.
Mathematical skills: Foundational abilities including number sense, arithmetic fluency, and basic problem-solving.
Step 3: After the Screening
A screening report will be received.
The short report draws on background information and task performance to provide a clear overview of the individual’s mathematical strengths and areas for development.
Each domain is summarised, with practical recommendations for support at home and school.
Please note: this is a screening tool, not a diagnostic assessment. It does not confirm dyscalculia but highlights potential difficulties and suggests appropriate next steps. Where significant challenges are identified, a full specialist assessment may be recommended.
Full payment is required at the time of booking.
